Ingredients:

Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and peppermint extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two portions. In one portion, add red food coloring and mix until you achieve the desired color. In the other portion, add green food coloring.
- Roll pieces of each color of dough into long ropes, about 6 inches long.
- Twist one red rope and one green rope together, then shape it into a candy cane curve.
- Place the shaped cookies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top of each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
