Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 100g of granulated sugar
- 75g of all-purpose flour
- 25g of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 100g of heavy cream
- 50g of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 100g of chocolate ganache (for frosting)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- mixing bowl
- baking tray
- parchment paper
- whisk
- spatula
- sharp knife
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until thick and pale, about 5 minutes.
- Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking tray and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cake is springy to the touch and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the whipped cream by whisking together heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Once the cake has baked, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool slightly on a wire rack.
- Carefully roll the cake in the parchment paper to form a log shape and let it cool completely.
- Unroll the cooled cake and spread a layer of whipped cream on top. Re-roll the cake without the parchment paper.
- Transfer the rolled cake to a serving plate and frost the outside with chocolate ganache.
- Decorate with any additional decorations, and slice to serve.
