Ingredients:
- 250g of all-purpose flour
- 100g of granulated sugar
- 115g of unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 large egg
- 5g of vanilla extract
- 2g of baking powder
- 1g of salt
- 200g of powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons of milk (for royal icing)
- Coloring (optional)

Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
- Once chilled, roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 0.5 cm thick.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool completely before icing them.
- To make the royal icing, mix the powdered sugar with the milk until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
- Use piping bags to decorate the cooled cookies with royal icing as desired.
